COLLABORATIVE SCHOOL BASED COUNSELING

If you are interested in having sessions conducted at your child’s school, the process is outlined below:

Initial Parent Meeting: Parents attend an initial assessment, during which we gather background information and develop a treatment plan. At this time, parents sign a consent form authorizing us to communicate with relevant school personnel, such as the school counselor, teacher, and/or administrators.

School Collaboration: We contact the school to request permission to provide services on-site and to coordinate scheduling, typically during times such as lunch or recess. This step allows us to begin collaborating with school staff and to better understand your child’s strengths and challenges within the school environment.

Beginning Treatment: Your child attends an initial session in our office accompanied by at least one parent. Ongoing individual sessions are then held at school, when appropriate. Following each session, we provide a brief (approximately 10-minute) parent update via phone or email, based on your preference. This communication is included as part of the session fee.

Ongoing Parent and Family Meetings: We schedule regular in-office meetings (biweekly or monthly) for parent coaching, family sessions, and/or progress updates to ensure alignment and support across settings.
